Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA), Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) and Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) with 20 years of CFO/COO/CEO experience in manufacturing, natural resource and software development industries. I am now using that experience and training to help the owners of privately-held businesses enhance the value and sellability of their businesses, in anticipation of exiting. Studies show that while 50% of privately-held businesses will change hands in the next ten years, less than half have even thought about an exit plan. Without a formal exit plan, their businesses will be much more difficult to sell or transition, and the after-tax net proceeds will be significantly reduced. By identifying the factors/characteristics of the business that drive value, and implementing strategies to enhance those value drivers, a business will be more appealing, and therefore more valuable, in the eyes of potential purchasers.
